What's Involved?
Emergency tree removal is the rapid, controlled removal or making-safe of a tree that has fallen, partially failed, or is in imminent danger of failing. This includes wind-thrown trees, hung-up limbs, split unions, fractured stems, root-plate failures, and trees that have landed on or against a roof, vehicle, fence or power line.
The priority on arrival is always the same: cordon off the hazard, identify the failure mode, and remove the tree in controlled sections using rigging and lowering equipment. Damaged trees are unpredictable. Stored tension in bent and compressed timber releases suddenly, and storm-damaged wood behaves differently to healthy timber. This is not work to attempt without training and the right equipment.

Tree emergencies do not stabilise on their own. Here's what typically happens when a storm-damaged or fallen tree is left without professional attention.
A limb that looks settled after a storm continues to shift as it dries and as wind load changes. What appeared stable in the morning can fall by afternoon, onto a vehicle, a roof, or anyone passing underneath.
A tree showing a partial root-plate lift after a storm often fully uproots within 24 to 48 hours of further wind or rain. Saturated ground offers little resistance once the root structure has started to fail.
Buildings and liability policies require the policyholder to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage. Leaving a known hazard unattended for days can give your insurer grounds to reduce or reject a subsequent claim.
Trees fallen across driveways or footpaths can prevent emergency vehicle access. Local authorities can issue fixed penalties for obstructions on or affecting the public highway.
Storm-damaged timber is full of stored tension. Chainsaw cuts into compressed or bent wood release that energy violently and unpredictably. The most common serious chainsaw injuries follow storm events when people attempt their own clearance.
A tree resting against a line may appear safe but the risk increases with every gust. Contact with a live conductor is a matter for your distribution network operator, and the area must be kept clear until they have isolated the supply and confirmed it is safe to approach.

If the tree is in contact with a power line we liaise with the distribution network operator before starting work. We do not approach live conductors.
All timber and brash removed from site. Paths and drives cleared. The site is left clean before we go.
Photos of the failure point and damage, a written report, and an itemised invoice ready to submit to your buildings insurer or loss adjuster.
